Today was a looooong day. Things didn't go quite as smoothly as planned, but we made it through alright I think :D
In a perfect world, we would have been able to completely finish the flooring yesterday, and we'd have been able to put up walls today, but ya know...Louisiana weather yo. Yesterday, we were able to get all of the planks drilled down into the trailer frame (we'll insulate from below later on). We also tacked down a couple of the subflooring sheets down. But there was just this nasty, misty (no offense heh) grossness going on all day. Plus the whole baby shower goings on indoors So our panels came in last night around 8:15. Luckily, my family is close and they rock! Apparently we weren't supposed to store them flat on the concrete. We were supposed to have them on runners. I'm just glad they are on level and smooth concrete, are safe from the elements, and won't be sitting for too long anyway. But they're here!!!!!!! omg this is really happening! Saturday was plywood and lumber run day. Handy grandpa #1 ever so graciously took us with his truck and a small trailer to Lowe's to get what we will need to put down the flooring and dimensional lumber (to attach wall panels to floor and roof, and to cover any sides with exposed foam). good times! The WenderZ has been going nuts on the trailer frame. Look how she's just in beast mode with that drill! So handy and adorable :-D Just a couple more holes to drill, and this portion will be done. Good thing because the panels come in Monday late afternoon. Utter madness! So this happened on my way to work on 9.11.13. Thankfully I wasn't at fault, but poor Little Blue is totaled. Looks like we'll be doing some used car hunting this week as well. Booooooo Today Wendy and I began the adventure of drilling holes through the iron bar so we can bolt down the subfloor and 2x4s. We got a few completely done today, but by the end of the day our bit was dull and the drill we were borrowing from handy grandpa #1 just wasn't doing it. Tomorrow handy grandpa #2 is bringing over a bigger, better drill that should make this a great deal easier. Here's hoping! |
